Facebook's Harm

People all around the world are using numerous social media websites to stay connected with others.  Is it possible that social media, such as Facebook, could be harmful to a human being?  There are always rumors floating around stating ideas similar to the thought of social media being harmful to users.
According to Sky News, a recent study was conducted by scientists that showed a positive correlation between Facebook use and dissatisfaction of life.  Eighty-two young adults were sent five Facebook messages a day for two weeks asking the users questions pertaining to their feelings on life.
The results of this study showed that Facebook users are most often lonely and sad, so they turn to social media where they are dissatisfied at the moment, and unsatisfied with life as a whole.  Facebook is very similar to other forms of social media like Twitter, Instagram, Vine, Snap Chat, and many others, therefore, it is very possible that these social apps can be causing users the same harmful effects.
In my opinion, social media is harmful to people.  I think it is necessary for people to interact face to face.  With using social media, people are lacking human interaction causing socialization to be more difficult.  I also agree with the idea that social media addicts are typically unhappy.  Social media posts by young adults are mostly unnecessary comments that express negativity and ultimately make people unhappy.  Social media is also the hot spot for cyber bullying amoung young adults, which is another causation of unhappiness.
I completely agree with the idea that social media is ruining the youth.  I am hopefull that more research will be conducted on this issue to present more evidence of social media's harmful effects.  Who knows what else social media could be affecting on young adults that nobody else is aware of.
